THE HOST of the Highland Gathering, the Lions Club of Amanzimtoti is in the final throes of preparation for the biggest event of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere.
All roads will lead to Toti on Saturday, 3 May when the Gathering will be hosted for a record 50th time at Hutchison Park.
Visitors will be entertained by some 27 pipe bands and 240 Highland dancers from around the country.
The all-day festivities will comprise beauty pageants, a variety of arena events, among them a gym display, dog show and drum majorettes.
For the shoppers, there will be a genuine craft market and fleamarket stalls. There will also be food stalls, children’s entertainment, a tea garden and a beer tent. Local bands, Lee’s Bronsky Beaters, Amanzimtexas, Scrapyard Bones, Seagreen Blues, Wazza’s Wacky Warblers, Red Light Stereo, Dv8 and F’n RiTs will keep visitors’ feet tapping.
