Reef D on the rampage against Silver Dollar

An outright glorious 18-0 victory left Silver Dollar with their tails between their legs on their home turf.

SAPPHIRE Coast pool league results for Wednesday, 16 April:

Killer team Reef D captained by Clint Mooiman with Barry de Beer, Johnny Roets and Wayne Mackay went on the rampage, showing no mercy to Silver Dollar.

An outright glorious 18-0 victory left Silver Dollar with their tails between their legs on their home turf.

Warnadoone A and Sapphire Cove B were evenly matched at the end of the first round. Only two points were given to Sapphire Cove in the second and third rounds. Joseph Jacobs of Warnadoone took a full house. By the end of the fourth round Sapphire Cove had no way of winning, but gallantly fought back to win the doubles, leaving Warnadoone with a safe and sound 10-8 victory.

Silver Dollar B kept the pressure on Nautical Mile A as they took first two rounds bar two points. Tables were turned as Nautical Mile reciprocated, only allowing two points to their opponents in the third and fourth rounds. Nautical Mile’s Hercules du Preez and Denzil van der Westhuizen took three of their four games. A split in the doubles left both teams with a draw.

Silver Dollar A took the first round, allowing one point to Ollies B. The next two even rounds’ even games put Silver Dollar determined to win the singles and they took the fourth round’s four points. Silver Dollar’s Deon Pool took a full house and team mate Nico Davies and opponent Dillon Chetty took three of their four games. An even score in the doubles games left Silver Dollar with a satisfying 12–6 victory.

Moulin Rouge played smart against Warnadoone D, taking three points in the first round. An even second round, another 3-1 score the third and an even fourth round left Warnadoone scrambling to stay alive. Coming back with two doubles wins, Warnadoone limped home, leaving Moulin Rouge A with a welcome 10–8 victory.

Thanks to Moulin Rouge for hosting a competition the past Monday. A few upsets and some fantastic games were played. Deon Pool took first prize followed by Nico Davies, who was on his way to winning just before the white ball joined the black in the final shot. Levin Poonan and Ashlin Pillay took third and fourth respectively. Thank you to all who supported the competition.

Good luck to the women and the seniors teams who will be representing KZN Pool Federation at the nationals in Worcester. The tournaments kick off on 26 April and 3 May respectively. The seniors will be defending their title. Make the province proud and bring back both titles this time.
