Cancer fund hooks another fundraiser bounty

Over R8,000 raised for Kevin Hay.

Team Flamingo took to the water at the weekend to raise funds for Kevin Hay.

Toti paddlers, Ross Fountain and Brett Hadiaris started Team Flamingo to raise funds for their friend Kevin, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and to raise awareness of cancer.

Winkle Fishing Ski Club hosted a fishing competition, while Warnadoone Ski-Boat Club (WSC) hosted a women’s competition and social.

“What a fantastic fundraiser at WSC for Team Flamingo,” said Ross.

“On Saturday WSC raised R8,376.” A honesty box for food raised R4,501, various raffles netted R2,705 and a fish replica, donated by Grant Thompson and raffled off at both competitions, returned R2,690.

The Winkle Fishing Ski Club committee decided to further contribute by donating a South Coast holiday to Kevin and his family. “Kevin has always been a committed and passionate fisherman and to see what the local clubs have achieved and contributed is encouraging. Thanks to the Winkle Fishing Ski Club organising committee of Trevor, Jaco, Greg, Bryon, Jethro, Peter and Gert for their generosity and support.

Well done. You all deserve a pat on the back for your support and care for Kevin and his family. We have such a wonderfully supportive community. Thanks to Gabby Rautenbach, Eric Greyling, Tracey Cauvin, Glen Jansen and the members of the WSC for all the hard work, Glen for feeding us, Kenny Kearns of Goss and Balfe for the kit, AmanzimTexas for entertaining and Tracey, who kept the barflies happy.”
