Big haul in fishing competition

Denise wins women's compo.

Winkle Fishing Ski Club hosted a fishing competition at Winkle Lifesaving Club (WLSC), while Warnadoone Ski-Boat Club (WSC) hosted a women’s competition on Saturday and Sunday, 5 and 6 April to raise funds for cancer sufferer Kevin Hay.

At WLSC over 80 paddlers took to the water to battle it out for a share of the prizes, valued at over R200,000.

Two Team Flamingo teams entered and team ‘Kill em All’, consisting of Mark Shum, Donnie Bowden, Brad Turner and Frankie Oberholzer took top honours.

In the women’s competition, of the 30 who entered, 19 caught fish. Denise Murgatroyd claimed top spot with her 27.07kg yellowfin tuna. Ronel Greyling was second with a 15.95kg yellowfin tuna and Karen Santowski claimed the last podium spot with a 15.64kg yellowfin tuna.
