Pipers, dancers to set Toti abuzz

Highland Gathering gathers steam.

THE Upper South Coast will be abuzz with the melodious sounds of pipers at Amanzimtoti Lions Club’s 50th Highland Gathering and expo at Hutchison Park on Saturday, 3 May.

Billed as the biggest Gathering in the Southern Hemisphere, some 22 pipe bands and 240 Highland dancers have confirmed their attendance at the event.

Budding beauty queens and kings also have an opportunity to strut their stuff and win fabulous prizes. There is a Mini Miss Gathering for one to six-year-olds and Miss Junior Highland Gathering for seven to 12-year-olds. The men also have a chance to shine in the Mr Highland Gathering pageant, the only condition being that they are over 18-years-old.

A variety of arena events have been planned to keep the crowds entertained, among them a gym display, dog show, drum majorettes and the fire department.

The all-day festival will have something for everyone. There is a genuine craft market, fleamarket, food stalls and children’s entertainment. Relax in the beer tent with entertainment provided by several local bands or in the tea garden.

The organisers are looking for genuine, hand-made craft stallholders. If you have something extraordinary to sell, email Carol at botha.carol60@gmail.com to book a stall.

Those interested in fleamarket or food stalls should email John at john.d.kwest@gmail.com.

The lifestyle expo will feature three industries, house and garden; outdoor and leisure and health and beauty. To book a stand for your business at the expo email Big Events 365 at events@bigevents365.co.za.
