Prostitutes own Toti after dark

It got me to wondering what is going on in Amanzimtexas lately?

EDITOR – ON my way to the rugby club last Wednesday night, I could not help but notice the prostitutes spread strategically out along Kingsway Road.

It got me to wondering what is going on in Amanzimtexas lately?

After dark we are normally locked up behind high walls and insecure alarm systems, trying to protect ourselves from an inept government that has failed its citizens and we are afraid to let out our children after dark. With elections coming up the scenario of lawlessness really stuck in my head and raised the question – who is protecting us from the vermin and undesirables that roam the street?

In the old days, vagrants and drifters were scooped up and deposited in the sugar cane fields and encouraged never to return and that kept our streets safe to walk on at night. As a teenager I would walk all the way home from Toti High School after a Friday night’s movie in the hall with friends past the old River Gardens Hotel and up Old Main Road. Something I would never attempt now, even if I was armed with a sawn off shot gun.

Often a police van would stop and load us up in the back of the canary van and give us a lift home but nowadays spotting a police van is like trying to win a teddy bear at the Kuswag carnival.
