Golf Course takes umbrage at state of road

Toti Golf Club is fed up with eThekwini Municipality continuing to neglect the upkeep of Golf Course Road.

Manager of Toti Golf Club, Dave Richardson last reported the neglect of road to the municipality on 9 December, to no avail.

The club's concerns include the broken concrete lampposts that line the road, incomplete road repairs, ill-fitting sewer covers that are a danger to motorists and pedestrians and cuttings trimmed from trees left on the side of the road.

“I've complained on several occasions, often at least once a week, to no avail,” said Dave. “In October I reported a leaking pipe in the road. Workers came and dug up a section of the road and repaired the leak, but to date the section hasn't been re-tarred. After the steel manhole covers were stolen, the municipality replaced them with concrete ones, which have broken or cracked when cars drive over them. We had a busy festive season with visitors. I understand the municipality had a break over the festive period, but we are already midway through January and still no-one has responded to our calls.”

The Sun sent enquries to the municipality, but no response has been forthcoming.
