Baby’s toy alerts woman to burglars

THE sound emitted from a baby's toy alerted a woman in a complex in Wavecrest Road, Athlone Park to an intruder in her home at about 3am on Tuesday, 19 November.

“Thirty minutes before the incident, I got up to feed my two-year-son and had returned to bed, when the noisy toy got me up. My husband charged out of the bedroom and found a man standing in the lounge, with two more men at the door,” said the home owner, who did not wish to be named.

As soon as the robbers saw her husband, they ran off without taking anything.

They had gained entrance by cutting the glass out of a window and bending the burglar guards. “After entering, they found a set of keys in the kitchen which they used to open the door and burglar gate.

“They were quiet, had not switched on any lights and were busy disconnecting electronic items.” The family thanked Toti police who responded within 20 minutes of their call.
