Pilot locker storage plan for Toti beach
Sapphire Coast Toti Tourism (SCTT) plans to put a storage locker facility on Toti beach this season from 15 November to 15 January.
“The 3 x 3 M Projects unit will be manned from 9 December to 5 January and lockers will be rented out for R20. Bathers will be able to lock their belongings away while they enjoy their time in the water,” said SCTT chairman Jacques van Schalkwyk.
“Amanzimtoti Beach will be used as our pilot project Should it work, we will roll this facility out along our other beaches.”
A large number of tourists were victims of bag snatching in the last season. “We trying to find a solution with the resources we have and instead of sitting back and expecting the problem to go away by itself, we trying to give bathers a solution.
This is a pilot project on Toti beach as it has the most beach goers during this season. If it’s successful we will make this service available on other beaches as well.”
