Landmark Warners building re-purposed for office block

It was the end of an era when work began on a new office block on the site of the old Johnny’s Lawnmowers building in Warner Beach recently.

The building has been a landmark in the area for many years and news of its demolition was met with mixed opinions on local social media websites. Many ex-residents received the news with nostalgia and relived memories of growing up in the neighbourhood when Johnny’s Lawnmowers was still a functioning business. Many others greeted the news with glee that the old, crumbling building was finally being demolished.

“We are using the existing building as part of the bottom floor of the office block,” said builder, Maya van Rensburg. “We are keeping the footprint of the old building. We are also building a house behind it for the new owners.” Work on the 504m2 office block started four weeks ago and is expected to be completed by May.
