Parking woes to be resolved in Warners

The ongoing saga of the dreaded tree boxes along Kingsway in Warner Beach has been resolved.

eThekwini Municipality placed trees in the paving adjacent to parking spaces during the revamp of Warner Beach. Many of the trees were destroyed by motorists and residents questioned the validity of them.
“This has been the topic of many a heated discussion since the day of installation,” said ward 97 councillor, Andre Beetge. “Several meetings, discussions and continued correspondence substantiated by numerous photographs to various municipal departments has finally resulted in the development planning department securing sufficient budget to instruct development engineering to remove existing curbing and lay matching paving.”
The project is scheduled to continue for the duration of September. Residents, shop owners and shoppers are requested to be patient while the service provider starts from the Bella Vista Hotel, going south (seaside) towards Winklespruit and then turning back to fill those boxes on the inland side, towards the old Johnny’s Lawnmowers premises.
“Our friends with environmental concerns can rest assured that the few remaining trees will be removed by parks department and relocated to more suitable locations as part of ward 97’s September Arbour week initiative,” said Cllr Beetge.
