The Toti business community is on high alert following the publication of the amended Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Act.

The alert was emphasised by the following heading in the media: ‘DTI has just kicked broad-based black ownership in the teeth for the second time’.

“The Durban South Business Forum (DSBF) pro-actively identified the urgent need to be kept up-to-date on how to position our businesses’ sustainability in these challenging times of sweeping transformation,” said vice-president of DSBF, Andre Beetge.

“Accordingly, the entire Toti business community is invited to a briefing in this regard by Pieter du Toit of the Department Trade and Industry (DTI). His authority and expertise is recognised and respected by his peers.”

Aspects covered include:

* The amended BBBEE Act.

* Fronting.

* The amended BBBEE Codes: QSEs.

* The amended BBBEE Codes: Large Companies.

* Changes to the above (May 2015).

* Status of industry charters.

* The way forward.

The briefing is at Lords and Legends on Monday, 25 May at 6.30pm for 7pm.

The cost is R85 per person, which includes dinner and a question-and-answer session.
