By Jack E Toucher

LOOKING for new things to do with the family over the July school holidays?

Toti Bowling Club invites you to play B20 cricket-bowls on the first three Friday mornings of July (7, 14 and 21) from 8.30am until noon.

B20 cricket-bowls is a lot of fun to play, and everyone can join in, from teenagers to parents and grandparents. Visitors and non-bowlers are welcome to try their hand. All you need to bring is flat shoes. Bowls will be available and experienced players will be on hand to show you the ropes.

The cost is R20 per person, and soft drinks, snacks and food will be on sale. Contact 031-903-3857 to book by Wednesday, 5 July.

Congratulations to Heather Brown and Mike Pitchers who got as far as the semi-finals in the PN Pro-10 competition last weekend before being knocked out. This new format seems to be great fun to play, and will no doubt be played more often at club level.

Well done also to novice Steve Woor who defeated Alec Stirzaker in a surprise upset to win a semi-final game of the men’s handicap singles. It looks as if we have some new young talent coming through in ABC.

Jeanne Alexander and Dallas Davis won their quarter-final of the nominated mixed pairs against Linden and Heather Cooper; and in men’s senior singles Linden beat Bobby Henderson.

In the Perfect Delivery men’s 242 Ian Crouch and Lofty van Tonder were winners on 4+25, with close runners-up Barry Bush and Terry Morgan getting 4+24. Second session was won by Gerald Chalder-Royle and Paul Els.

In women’s inter-club league Toti A beat Northlands A 3-2; Toti B beat Hillcrest A 4-1; Toti C beat Northlands B 5-0; and Toti D drew with Lahee Park B 2.5-2.5.

In the men’s league Toti A beat Durban C 5-2; Toti B beat Durban B 5-2; Toti C beat Durban Wanderers B 7-0; Toti D lost to Lahee Park C 0-5; Toti E lost to Westville CC D 0-5; Toti F lost to Gillitts B 2-3.

The only birthday this week is Alf Bingham’s, so best wishes to him. There was no TGIF last week due to the public holiday, so the pots remain unchanged on R950 for the Attendance Draw and R3,980 for the Key Game.

This coming weekend will be a busy one, with the women’s Pam Golding tournament on Thursday, 22 June and Friday, 23 June, men’s and women’s league on Saturday, 24 June and the men’s and women’s Muttons on Sunday, 25 June. Good bowling to all and enjoy your games.

Finally, take note of the carded games for 1 and 2 July.
