Help Toti Club’s hockey players achieve their goal

The team hopes to receive private sponsorships for sports kit such as warm up shirts, bottles and sweat towels.

SIX Amanzimtoti hockey players who have made it through to the KZN Country districts team are raising funds for their tours which take place around the country in July.

The Quadrangular Country Districts Hockey Tournament took place in Pietermaritzburg on 5 and 6 May, which resulted in the six players’ selection for the KZN Country districts team.

Amanzimtoti Hockey Club and Port Shepstone Club played a trial, making two combined teams. From there the two teams competed at the quadrangular.

“The competition was very tough but both teams did exceptionally well despite having never practised or played together before,” said Jessica Wiggell.

Amanzimtoti players who made the KZN Districts Country teams are Kirsty Wiggill, Jessica Wiggill, Eirean Bowker, Celeste Denton, Jolani Scholtz and Ruben Myburgh.
Kirsty was selected as the vice captain for the team and Jessica Wiggill was awarded a trophy for player of the tournament.

The women’s team will be touring to Cape Town and the men will travel to Rustenburg in July. There they will compete against other provinces in the South African Country Districts Tournament. The tour is a costly expedition and various prizes will be raffled to raise funds.

The team hopes to receive private sponsorships for sports kit such as warm up shirts, bottles and sweat towels. They desperately need hoodies and peak caps.

The team has amassed the following 10 prizes, and a R20 ticket will get you an entry into the raffle:

  • R500 pamper hamper from Good Stuff
  • Booze hamper
  • Sweetie hamper
  • R500 hair make over from the Hairy Fairy
  • R500 jewellery voucher from Mowana Design
