AMANZIMTOTI Bowling Club (ABC) had some good results in the men’s league on Saturday.

Toti A won 5-2 at home against Durban C; also at home, Toti B scored 5-2 against Durban B; Toti C lost 2-5 at home against Wanderers B; Toti D won 3-2 away against Lahee Park C, well done to Alec Stirzaker, Martin Young, Paul Els and Ben Venter who scored an 8; Toti E won 3-2 away against Westville Country Club D; and Toti F scored 5-0 against Gillitts B at home. Keep up the good work, men.

Spectators enjoyed some wonderful bowls on Sunday as the next rounds of the PN Oppenheimer mixed pairs continued. Sadly Toti’s last remaining pairs, the Jouberts and Coopers were eliminated. However, those going through to the semis are Clinton and Yvonne Inglis from Stella Park; Graham Schouten and Pam Green from Parkhill; Des Hean and Minetta Hatton-Jones also from Stella; and Louis and Linda Tolmay from Umhlali CC. Both the semis and final will take place at Amanzimtoti BC on Sunday, 7 May, so go along and watch some top bowls.

Well done to Barry Simpson, Amanda Ninow and Leonie Mills who won the Seigetown Shellhole Tournament at Ladysmith. In the men’s novice singles, Steve Woor beat Greg Veldtman, and Greg also lost to Martin Birch. Good bowling to all who are playing in the Margate Tournament.

At TGIF, the Damagers won the 100 board; Keith West missed out on the attendance draw, which will be worth R650 next week. Maggie Robertson’s number came up in the key draw, but sadly in her absence Jacqui Birch’s attempt to choose the lucky key was unsuccessful. Next week’s key will be worth R1,610.

Entries are still open for the PN Pro 10 which starts on Sunday, 11 June when rounds one to five will be played. This is any combination two bowl pairs. Entries close on 12 May. The list is up for those wishing to do the markers’ course on Saturday, 13 May. The list is still on the board for those who wish to play the winter tournament, which is women’s fours to be held over Thursday and Friday, 22 and 23 June. Any unwanted items are welcome for the winter table.

Bowlers are all urged to keep checking the board for carded competitions, so these can be played as soon as possible to help the hardworking competition secretaries.

Members were saddened and shocked at the sudden death of Colin Coetzee. Condolences to his friends and family. Details of his funeral are unavailable at this stage. Get well wishes to all who are sick, and birthday greeting go this week to Mike Groom and Alan McGregor.
