Explore phytotherapy at Highland Gathering

The Illovo-based organisation will educate Highlanders about phytotherapy, a treatment that includes the use of medical plants.

POPULAR non-profit organisation, Mother of Peace will host its annual Highland Gathering on Saturday, 29 April.

The Illovo-based organisation will educate Highlanders about phytotherapy, a treatment that includes the use of medical plants.

“At this year’s Highland Gathering, our stall will focus on human health with relation to phytotherapy,” said Iris Canham from Mother of Peace.

Phytotherapist, Mary Carpenter who has been volunteering at the organisation, said, “Many have not heard of phytotherapy, a discipline that involves treatment through medicinal plants. Phytotherapy is distinct from homeopathy and anthroposophic medicine as this treatment avoids mixing plant and synthetic bioactive substances. This discipline is regarded by some as traditional medicine.”
