MONDAY, 10 APRIL: Diabetes South Africa holds free meetings from 10am to 11am at Poinsettia Park Hall, Kingsway for people with diabetes and other interested members of the community to become more knowledgeable and skilled in managing their diabetes. The topic this month is renal failure and Sr Francis from Fresenius Renal Care will be doing blood glucose testing, blood pressure readings and kidney screenings. All are welcome.

MONDAY, 10 APRIL: SAARP AGM at 9.30am for 10am in the activities room at Toti library. Go along and meet new people and have fun with speakers and outings. All are welcome from 50 years onwards. A new committee will be elected, hopefully with new names and ideas. A relaxing few games of bingo with ‘prizes’ will take place before refreshments are served. TUESDAY, 11 APRIL: The next full moon beach walk will start earlier than during Summer. Walkers will kick off at 5.30pm from Baggies, Warner Beach to Winkle Beach and back. All locals and holidaymakers are invited to join in and dogs on leads are welcome. Call Yvonne on 074-190-0949.

TUESDAY, 11 APRIL: The next meeting of Amanzimtoti Women’s Institute starts at 9.15am in the activities room adjacent to the Toti library at Amanzimtoti Civic Centre. All are welcome to join in for a morning of fellowship and fun, and to learn a new craft while sharing in delicious tea and snacks. Direct enquiries to Yvonne on 074-190-0949.

WEDNESDAY, 12 APRIL: Upper South Coast Garden Club meets at 3 Macmenamin Place (off Lewis Drive), Amanzimtoti at 9.30am. Membership is open to anyone interested in gardening, even if you don’t have a garden. Annual membership fees are R30 and visitors are welcome.

 

TUESDAY, 18 APRIL: Join the Israel study group to learn and discover more about Israel’s history, biblical truths relevant to today and Hebrew words and names. The meeting starts at 10.30am at Amanda’s Resturant. Interested persons should call Marie on 079-386-4185 or on 031-916-1815 or Daphne on 084-679-8097.

 

SATURDAY, 29 APRIL: Durban Association of Miniature Enthusiasts hosts an exhibit at Toti library activities room on from 9am to 4pm. Three miniature scenes will be raffled off to raise funds for Jona Vaughan Home for the intellectually disabled. Entry is free and raffle tickets cost only R10. FRIDAY to SUNDAY, 26 to 28 MAY: Mountain Backpackers Club enjoys guided day hikes at Mhlopeni Nature Reserve near Greytown. At this SA natural heritage site in the Muden area, the weather may hit 0 degrees at this time of year, so wrap up warm. The self-catering camp costs R150 per person and own tent costs R80 per person. There is accommodation available. Guided hikes on Saturday and Sunday will take in the beautiful bushveld, game and prolific birdlife. Pre-booking and payment is essential. Email joy@mhlopeni.co.za for details. SOCIAL Bridge at St Mary’s every Wednesday between 8.15am and noon. New bridge members have settled in well, enjoying the challenge of the game in a relaxed, social atmosphere. TOTI Bird Park’s charity tea garden operates every Wednesday morning from 9.15am to noon.The community is encouraged to support this fundraising initiative. All income is used to support the needs of local children’s charities.
