Pedestrian critical after cars plough into her on R603

She was struck at the side of the road when two cars collided

A pedestrian has been left in a critical condition after she was struck at the side of the road when two cars collided on the R603 near Winklespruit this afternoon (Saturday, 18 March).

Just after 1.30pm, Rescue Care paramedics responded to the call for urgent assistance.

They found two vehicles had collided on the R603 before one lost control and rolled several times, hitting a pedestrian on the side of the road. The vehicle came to rest on its side. The pedestrian was found in a critical condition and Rescue Care’s advanced life support paramedic placed the patient on a manual ventilator before she was rushed to a nearby hospital for further care.

Three occupants from the vehicles sustained minor to serious injuries and were also stabilised before also being transported to hospital for treatment.

The cause of the collision is unknown however SAPS were on scene and will investigate further.
