A WELL-KNOWN face in Toti, Jannine van Heerden had her life threatened when a taxi turning on Kingsway did not see her motorbike and collided with her in traffic on Monday, 6 March.

The accident in Warner Beach left her hospitalised, with injuries to recover from and a completely unusable motorbike.

Many people in the community know or have encountered Jannine somewhere in their daily lives, either when she’s delivering medicine or riding past to deliver some groceries to a family down the road. People who know her say that although she hasn’t been given the easiest deal in life, at her core she goes out of her way to help other people. This extraordinary woman has made a living using her motorbike, and although she makes enough to get by, things like insurance are a luxury that she simply cannot afford.

Toti 85 Round Table, in conjunction with Helluvafast Motorcycles in Winklespruit have teamed up together to support Jannine and see that she is back on her wheels and mobile as quickly as possible.

Helluvafast Motorcycles has her bike in its possession and has pledged to repair and paint it free of charge. After a full quote to have the bike repaired, needed spare parts inclusive, a total of R9,628 was calculated.

“People of our amazing Amanzimtoti, it’s time to rally for one of our own,” said Amanzimtoti Round Table’s Kevin Fleiner.

Anyone who would like to donate towards getting Jannine’s livelihood restored, can do so by making a contribution into the Round Table bank account.

Many hands make light work, a donation of R20 will pay for something that this bike needs.
