Solid start to pool league

Rule of the week: The break will be deemed a 'fair break' if at least one colour is potted or four object balls (at least) are driven to a cushion.

SAPPHIRE Coast Eight Ball Pool league kicked off on Wednesday, 22 February.

With six clubs – Kings, Warnadoone Angling Club, Scottburgh Country Club, Reef, Oceans and Sapphire Cove – and 14 teams, the league is off to a great start.

Team scores from Wednesday, 22 February: Oceans A beat Scottburgh Vikings 13-5; Kings B beat Warnadoone Hardi4 11-7; Kings A beat Warnadoone Wackers 12-6; Reef B beat Scottburgh Assassins 11-7; Scottburgh Roosters beat Reef A 11-7; Umkomaas Blasters drew Warnadoone Lions 9-9.

Winning all their singles games were Buks Swanepoel from Kings B and Jakes Aucamp from Scottburgh Roosters.

Kings player Rodney Brown gave Wackers’ Mags Govender a white-wash off the break.

Women’s trials will be on Saturday, 4 March and Sunday, 5 March and seniors and masters will be held on Saturday, 11 March and Sunday, 12 March, both from 10am at JD’s Pub and Grill on the Bluff.

Rules and referee training will be held at Scottburgh Country Club on Saturday, 4 March from 3pm to 6pm with an exam to be written at 6pm. Members of each team must attend and obtain a pass rate of 80%.
