Seniors grateful for golf women’s donation

Members of the Upper South Coast branch of the KZN Senior Womens Golf Society – visited Alex Park with donation of goods for the use of the residents.

ALEX Park Old Age Home in Scottburgh was delighted to receive the welcome donation of goods to the value of R3,000 from the KZN Senior Women’s Golf Society (SWG) last month.

Each year the KZN SWG runs a raffle at their main golf competitions and by rotation, each of the four branches which include Upper South Coast, Lower South Coast, Durban and Midlands, has a turn to donate the money raised to a charity in their area. The only stipulation is that it must be for the benefit of senior citizens. In 2016 it was the turn of the USC branch, who when asked for suggestions, firmly recommended Alex Park.

In early February, members of the Upper South Coast branch of the SWG, captain Dawn Leader, Lass Davis and treasurer Sue Daniels visited the home with the goods they donated.

Alex Park administrator, Margie Stella confirmed the three modern commodes were a welcome addition to the home’s frail care unit, replacing some of the older items that were being used. The colourful table clothes and matching place mats to be used in the two frail care sections and dining rooms were also gratefully received, as much thought had gone into the selection of suitable fabric and quantities. The brightly coloured red, green, orange and blue tablecloths have brightened up the whole area and the Alex Park residents are delighted with the vibrant patterns and colours.

The caring SWG women were lauded for even making extra table clothes to allow for regular rotation and washing.

Alex Park extends its sincere thanks to the Upper South Coast SWG branch for considering Alex Park as the beneficiary of the funds raised in 2016.
