ALERT! Beaches closed, shark nets removed

Bathing at Amanzimtoti main beach will be restricted for the present.

Amanzimtoti beaches were closed for bathing on Thursday morning, 16 February.

Ward 97 councillor, Andre Beetge said the beach closure was as a result of heavy rain and expected irregular weather patterns that resulted in excessive debris in the water from rivers and also the lifting of shark nets.

“Umgababa Beach, Winklespruit Beach, Warner Beach, Pipeline Beach and Isipingo Beach are closed for bathing with immediate effect and into the weekend,” said Cllr Beetge.

“Bathing at Amanzimtoti main beach will be restricted for the present, with the option of complete closure.”
