WEDNESDAY, 22 FEBRUARY: 21 Club’s luncheon at Lords and Legends conference centre at noon for 12.30pm will celebrate St Valentine in red, black and white. The club looks forward to Darryl Clifford and Schalk van der Merwe talking about the art of bonsai. Members are reminded that confirmation of intention to attend or not and names of guests, must be received by committee members by Friday, 17 February. TUESDAY, 23 FEBRUARY: Cancer Association of South Africa holds a free mole screening morning using a photofinder scanner with a qualified nursing sister in attendance at Seadoone Mall, next to the bottle store, from 9am to 1pm. This is open to all Amanzimtoti senior citizens over the age of 60 years without medical aid. If you are concerned about a mole on your body this is your opportunity to have it checked out. To book your place, call Nicolene at South Coast CANSA office on 039-682-7680 during office hours as only a limited number of patients can be treated.

SATURDAY, 11 MARCH: Sanctuary of the Great White Light, 9 Barrow Street Umkomaas will host Sharon Row and Carol Alberts, for a workshop on how to meet your guides, what a guide is and their purpose. This should be an interesting afternoon for all. For more information, call Gayle on 083-654-5261.

FRIDAY, 26 MARCH to SUNDAY, 28 MARCH: Mountain Backpackers Club enjoys guided day hikes at Mhlopeni Nature Reserve near Greytown. At this SA natural heritage site in the Muden area, the weather may hit 0 degrees at this time of year, so wrap up warm. Self-catering camp costs R150 per person and own tent costs R80 per person. There is accommodation available. Guided hikes on Saturday and Sunday will take in the beautiful bushveld, game and prolific birdlife. Pre-booking and payment is essential.
