Business as usual for refuse collection

DSW staff are strictly prohibited from touting for money or gifts.

eThekwini Municipality encourages Toti residents to leave their refuse out for collection as usual during the festive season as Durban Solid Waste (DSW) will adhere to the normal collection schedule.

This includes Christmas Day, 25 December and New Year’s Day, 1 January.

The DSW offices will be closed on 16, 17, 25 and 26 December, and 1 and 2 January but operational staff will be on duty throughout the festive season to provide services.

“Residents are reminded that DSW staff are strictly prohibited from touting for money or gifts,” said eThekwini Municipality head of communications, Tozi Mthethwa.

“Residents are also advised to be wary of con artists posing as municipal workers who have been known to solicit gifts.

Take the precaution of wrapping any glass in newspaper before disposing of it in refuse bags to reduce the chances of injuring staff during collection.”
