Three Amanzimtoti schools have joined forces to help the community.

Each Christmas, Operation Bobbi Bear organises a children’s party at the ‘under the tree’ project in Illovo.

Kingsway High School, Amanzimtoti High School and Amanzimtoti Primary School pupils have committed to host this year’s party for about 350 children who gather on a Saturday morning under the tree.

The three schools have been collecting shoe boxes which will be filled with the following items: Toothbrush, toothpaste, facecloth, soap, packet of chips, juice box, packet of biscuits, stationery (crayons, pens and books), and a toy.

Ages of the recipients range from one to 16 years.

“We appeal to the public to help with donations of food for the party,” said Kingsway High School counsellor, Debbie Potgieter. “Hopefully local companies can come on board with donations of food or money.”

Should you wish to donate, drop off items at Kingsway High School by Tuesday, 22 November.

“We are also looking for sponsors from the community to assist with a meal or party pack for these children. It can be a sandwich, burger, pizza or nuggets with juice and some sweets.

We are so happy to have the residents of Poinsettia Park assist us with the mammoth task of wrapping these shoe boxes.

Funland Entertainment has been very generous with the sponsorship of R1,500 worth of toys, which will be used for the shoe boxes.

Thanks to Makro Arbour Crossing for the donation of shoe boxes.

We are also looking for sponsorship of wrapping paper.”
