CONGRATULATIONS to Amanzimtoti Bowling Club’s (ABC) Glen Scorgie, Alec and Nicky Stirzaker and Jackie Holdrick on winning the Battlefields Dundee memorial tournament.

ABC’s teams are flying the flag wherever they play.

Doreen Salmond, Julie Sutherland, Amanda Ninow and Adrienne Robbins came third in the Bluff tournament; and Barbara Beamson, Jeanne Alexander, Lynn Joubert and Michelle Pitchers won the first session.

In the men’s monthly Ford Fury trips, Ian Crouch, Lofty van Tonder and Brian Crause were the winners, Adrian Morrison, Barry Hilton and Mac Mackrory came second, and Duncan Wright, Gustav Somers and Vish Studinski won the second session. The women’s monthly 2-4-2 was unfortunately rained out after a few ends. Joan van Rensburg won the 100 board.

At TGIF, Eric Gardner won the 100 board. Leonie Mills’ name came up in the attendance draw, but sadly she was away, so next week’s draw is worth R750. Excitement mounted as the must win final key draw began. Noreen Butler received a consolation prize of R100, as more keys were eliminated. Finally it came down to three envelopes, when Vince Marriot chose the winning key for Glad and Dennis Hughes. Hopefully he will get more than ‘one cent’ reward from them. Well done to them. Next week’s key draw will resume on R1,000.

Well done to Heather Cooper who won her first round open singles match against Vera Broskie. All players in this competition are asked to arrive at 8.30am on Saturday, 12 November to either play or mark. As soon as games are finished, the next group of players can start so you do not need to wait until after lunch. Thanks for the co-operation.

In the first round games of men’s nominated trips, Tony Cam, Alan McGregor and Jeff van Belkum beat Coy Schrauwen, Barry Buckland and Guelfo Cobianchi; Dave Kemp, Alf Bingham and Adie Fuller defeated Rob Troughton, Terry Morgan and Neville Roscoe; Clive Frank, Ray Robinson and Leon van Rensburg beat Andrew Walker, Trevor Zulch and Martin Birch; Peter Callaghan, Mark Brodie and Dallas Davis overcame Bobby Henderson, Peter Snyman and Wessie vd Westhuizen; Shawn Sutherland, Neil Wiggill and Gustav Somers defeated Ian Shearer, Ken Leech and Keith Berry; Steve Evenwel, Andy Jones and Ben Venter beat Vince Marriott, Eric Klopper and Steve Liebetrau; Ian Crouch, Lofty van Tonder and Barry Bush got the better of George Glaves, Keith West and Ian McDonald; and Linden Cooper, Boet Els and Dave McMillan defeated Dave Gardner, Shane Tocher and Gary Wise.

In last week’s article, thanks should have been also sent to Elsie Walker who donated a leg of lamb for the Cherry Bell raffle. This was won by Joan van Rensburg.

Birthday wishes are sent this week to Mark Brodie and Robert Green, and wishing get well to all members who are sick at this time.
