Lovu muso releases first single

Zanele is the the first SA artist to be signed to the Capetainment Africa production company.

Another Amanzimtoti artist hopes to break into the music scene with the release of her first single next month.

Zanele Malunga, or ‘Zanie’ as she is known on stage, recently finished recording her debut single ‘Drifting Apart’.

“I wrote the lyrics and produced the music for it,” said the 30-year-old Lovu Township resident. “I will shoot a music video for it in Johannesburg and Durban sometime next month.

The single falls under the ‘tropical house’ genre, which is currently very big in London, but I am the first artist to bring it to SA.”

Zanele is the the first SA artist to be signed to the Capetainment Africa production company, based in Nigeria.

“It’s challenging to be the first, as you have to spend time and dedication to make a success of yourself to pave the way for other SA artists to be signed. But at the same time, it’s fun.”

She was born in Durban, matriculated at Umngawakhe High School in Umgababa and moved to Lovu Township four years ago.

Zanele will tour Durban, Johannesburg and Cape Town with another local rising star, Tyraqeed Kid, whose single ‘Napha Napha’ has flown up the charts since its release in May.

“I hope my first single is well received, as music is in my genes and this is what I want to do.”
