[VIDEO] N2 obstructed by strewn stones from rolled bakkie

Passenger, driver both injured in noon crash opposite the old airport site

A two-ton bakkie’s load of stone has obstructed the N2 at the old Durban airport site, after it was strewn across multiple lanes when the bakkie rolled at about 12.15am today (Tuesday, 20 September).

Reports from the scene indicate that the bakkie loaded with stone veered across the highway and overturned, its twisted remains coming to rest on its side in the fast lane, with the stone scattered across the highway.

Netcare 911 paramedics found the driver and passenger had been ejected from the vehicle – one landing on the concrete centre median while the other man was found in the fast lane. Both had sustained serious injuries.

After medics stabilised the men at the scene, they transported them to a local hospital. The highway remains obstructed while cleaning operations are in progress.
