Bakkie plunges off N2 into river

The twisted frame of the vehicle was found partly submerged in the river

A DRIVER was fortunate to survive after his bakkie veered off the waterlogged N2 highway and plunged into the Amanzimtoti River several metres below on Saturday afternoon, 17 September.

“Paramedics and firefighters arrived at the scene at about 2pm and found the driver had been rushed to hospital by private transport before our arrival,” said Netcare 911 media liaison officer, Chris Botha.

The twisted frame of the vehicle was found partly submerged in the river.
