CCPO irons out issues

With both teams working hand-in-hand for a period of time, all are confident that the issues raised will be overcome.

A meeting was held this week between the new Community Crime Prevention Organisation (CCPO) committee and the outgoing committee to resolve issues raised in an independent review by Willie Schultz.

Last week the new committee presented the findings of the review into the affairs of the non-profit organisation at the end of last year.

Members of the outgoing committee took umbrage to reports that finances were left in disarray when the new committee took over.

“A meeting was held on Monday, 5 September between the new CCPO committee and the old committee where certain administration issues and miscommunications which led to the published quotes of mismanagement and bankruptcy were addressed,” said outgoing chairman, Richard Allkins. “The meeting was a great success, with both the old and new CCPO committee members committing to work together to iron out all issues raised, to ensure that the CCPO moves forward positively so that the vision to create a ‘safer place to live, work and play’ for the residents of Amanzimtoti is carried forward.

The transition and introduction of a new committee was always going to be challenging, given the size and complexity of the organisation, however with both teams working hand-in-hand for a period of time, all are confident that the issues raised will be overcome and that the security and operational priorities of the CCPO can only be strengthened.”
