Winter Knights serve warm soup to elderly

We received a generous donation from Adrian Henderson of Brunchies Kitchen.

AS part of the National Winter Knights campaign, Amanzimtoti Round Table 85 opted to carry out its Winter Knights with Jabulani Home for the Aged.

“This home is in desperate need of assistance and we committed at the start of the year to support them on a regular basis,” said Amanzimtoti Round Table president, Vincent Tutt.

“We were fortunate enough to receive a generous donation from Adrian Henderson of Brunchies Kitchen in the form of a hearty vegetable soup.”

The Toti boys and girls rallied together and met at Jabulani on Saturday morning, 30 July to start preparing the soup kitchen for the old folks. Two very large pots of soup were warmed while the women sliced fresh loaves of French bread.

The old folk arrived and took their seats while the Tablers waited on them and served warm soup and fresh bread. “Some had a second and third helping, while some even took a bowl home for supper,” said Vincent.

There were a few residents who could not make it down to the dining room due to the ill state of their health, so the Tablers did door-to-door deliveries for them.

“A big thank you to Adrian for his donation towards this project and all the Tablers and their partners who jumped in to help on the day,” said Vincent.
