Safeguard all ‘family’ members

Please people, ensure your dog cannot get out of your yard

EDITOR – Browsing through social media recently, I noticed just how many dogs are running around Toti on the loose or have been stolen out of yards.

This is very scary. A dog that can get out of its yard and roam the streets poses a safety hazard for motorists, residents and pedestrians, especially if that dog tends to be vicious.

That people can just walk past your yard, lean in and take your dog to do with what they want, is equally scary.

Most small pedigree dogs cost a fortune and those stolen are probably sold for a fraction of the cost. How unscrupulous must you be, though, to buy a dog from someone you know has obviously stolen it from a family who loves it? Doesn’t it occur to these people the amount of hurt they are dumping on that poor family with their actions?

Please people, ensure your dog cannot get out of your yard and if you have a small breed, don’t let them roam the yard to be easily picked up by a passerby. Treat your animals like what they are, another member of your family.
