Saints launch bird park fencing mission
The news that some action is being undertaken to repair the fence is welcomed.
Toti Saints are on a mission to repair the fence at Amanzimtoti Bird Sanctuary and would welcome the Toti public’s help.
“We have been waiting for ages for the municipality to act on it,” said Army Saints founder, Shaun Callaghan. “We need to repair the fence outside. Hypersure Insurance Brokers has assisted us with a donation of 70 panels, but we need some extra pillars for these panels and we need someone with construction experience to help us install them.
We also need a donation of razorwire to install along the entire stretch of fencing.”
The news that some action is being undertaken to repair the fence is welcomed, especially after a woman was robbed by two knife-wielding thugs in broad daylight in the park on Monday, 23 May, despite there being a security guard on duty.
The Army Saints have done clean-ups in the bird park over the past two years, but they are now focussed on upgrading the park’s security.
“In light of last week’s incident, it’s imperative we get the wall up this weekend. I will sponsor CCTV cameras for the front entrance to track incoming and outgoing traffic,” said Shaun. “I have funded about 95% of our operations and the Army Saints would love the community to get involved and help out too.
