Girl (8) left critical after being struck by car

It is believed the child was on her way to school and was crossing the road

An eight-year-old girl is in a critical condition after she was struck by a vehicle near Umgababa train station at about 7.10am today (Friday, 27 May).

It is believed the child was on her way to school and was crossing the road at the time of the accident.

Netcare911 paramedics stabilised and intubated the critically injured girl, before transporting her to a nearby hospital under the care of an advanced life support paramedic.
