Baby campaign appeals for neutral baby clothing

This project relies heavily on the support of our community and donations of pre-loved baby clothes and blankets.

THE Robin Hood Foundation’s (RHF) Love the Babies 2016 campaign has made a special and urgent appeal for neutral and baby boy clothing for their next visit to local government hospitals.

RHF co-ordinator Kim Griffith Jones explained: “This is a campaign we run all year round, we aim to visit new mums in local government hospitals every six weeks with blessings for their newborns. This project relies heavily on the support of our community and donations of pre-loved baby clothes and blankets. The hamper we create is like a ‘baby shower in a bag’ and includes 0-12 month clothing, towelling nappies, blankets, beanies, booties, toiletries and other items necessary to help these new mums, who have absolutely nothing for their newborns in their first year of life. We are so grateful to our fellow community mums like Sarah Anne Brauns, for getting involved and showing their support.”

Sarah explained her reasoning for getting involved. “My whole life I have been exposed to those who have been less fortunate and I have always promised myself that I would give where I could and teach my children how to as well. From the time my girls Emily and Jordyn could understand the meaning of sharing and giving, my husband and I started implementing how important it was to share and give to others,” said Sarah. “Every year we go into their cupboards and go through their clothes together and the three of us decide what we would like to give to other children. This year my little angels surprised me and even chose some toys. This makes me the proudest mom in the world.”

“There is nothing more rewarding than the gift of giving. I was always taught to receive with an open heart and to give with no expectations and you will reap more rewards and fulfilment then money could ever buy. I have also been taught that no matter how small the item or gesture, it’s the love and the thought behind it that matters. Open your hearts and open your cupboards you will be amazed what can be discovered that will benefit our baby souls.”
