Pedestrian struck thrice by unlicensed driver

The vehicle had to be jacked up and the victim moved by paramedics.

A pedestrian is fortunate to be alive after he was run over three times by an unlicensed driver at a Lotus Park car wash in Isipingo on Sunday morning, 27 March.

“We received a call about a hijacking at the car wash at about 9.30am,” said Alpha Alarms communications officer, Krishnee Naidoo.

“When the response officer arrived at the scene, it was discovered that a pedestrian accident had occurred instead.

The owner of the vehicle said he had left his keys with his nephew, believed to be between 18 and 22-years-old while he went into a store to purchase items.

When he returned, he discovered his nephew had moved the vehicle and hit a pedestrian, running him over three times, leaving him trapped under the vehicle.”

The vehicle had to be jacked up and the victim moved by paramedics who confirmed he had sustained multiple injuries, including a broken arm and knee.

He was transported to a nearby hospital for further medical care.

Isipingo SAPS members were on site and the alleged unlicensed driver was handed over for investigation.
