Shaping young minds and empowering future leaders was the message conveyed at the induction of the Isipingo Junior Youth Forum (IJYF) on Thursday, 17 March.
“Team Alpha, in partnership with Isipingo SAPS and the House of David Community Centre hosted the event, which was facilitated by well-known motivational speaker, Shailen Singh,” said Alpha Alarms communications officer, Krishnee Naidoo.
Pupils from various primary schools in Isipingo and surrounding areas, who represent the IJYF, arrived accompanied by teachers and enjoyed a fun-filled, interactive and educational programme under the leadership of Singh.
“The programme had pupils captivated from start to finish, with many aspiring scientists, accountants and entrepreneurs sharing their views on their hopes and dreams for the future as they strive to complete each grade,” said Krishnee.
It was a day of learning for the hosts as well, as members interacted with pupils and were given insight into the challenges faced by the youth on a daily basis.
After much learning, pupils and teachers tucked into snacks and beverages provided by the hosts.
“Members of the IJYF will be engaged in more programmes throughout the year in a bid to empower and educate them about social ills and how to realise their full potential in all they endeavour to achieve,” said Krishnee.
