Returning burglars nabbed with their tools

It is presumed the same suspects were returning with tools to complete the job.

Two housebreakers were nabbed by the Community Crime Prevention Organisation (CCPO) officers with their tools on Monday morning, 14 March.

According to CCPO committee member, George Snodey, response officers Jason Hewitt and Hendrik Nxumalo were on patrol in Riverside Road when they saw two men attempting to climb over a wall into a complex.

“The officers jumped out and managed to apprehend both housebreakers, who were carrying a bag of tools used for housebreaking,” said Snodey.

“The night before a DVD player was stolen from a resident’s lapa and an unsuccessful attempt was made to take speakers off the wall. It is presumed the same suspects were responsible and were returning with tools to complete the job.”

Both men were arrested by Toti SAPS.

A number of fishing rods were found in the bushes close to the old Doonside Bowling Club. If you have had rods stolen recently, contact George Snodey on 083-655-4302.
