Lions support creche with microwave donation

The school is in need of a two-plate stove, food, mattresses, paint and someone to paint the building and outside fence, and do repairs to its gate.

A local creche continues to operate, thanks to assistance from the Kingsburgh Lions Club.

Sizanani Creche and Pre-School received a donation of a new microwave from the Lions on Tuesday, 8 March, much to the delight of its founder, Beauty Maphumulo.

“I started the creche in 1992 with 105 children, as I wanted to support the children in my community,” she said. “I now have 41 children between the ages of six months and six years who attend the school.”

The microwave will go a long way to help feed the children, who receive three meals a day at the school, which is situated on the outskirts of Bhekuwandle in Old Main Road.

“We have supported Sizanani Creche for many years with donations of food, toys and equipment,” said Kingsburgh Lions president, Pat Wilson. “They never had water to flush the toilets or wash their hands and we helped put the infrastructure in place. We try and help in whatever way we can.”
