Bakkie rammed in hit-and-run

The driver was treated with advanced life support equipment.

A driver was seriously injured after a vehicle rammed his bakkie from the rear in a hit and run incident on the N2 on Tuesday afternoon, 16 February at about 3pm.

According to Netcare 911 media liaison officer, Chris Botha, the bakkie, loaded with copper pipes on the back, was travelling southbound when the collision occured near Panarama Park.

“After being rammed, the bakkie went up an embarkment and rolled.

The driver, who was alone in the bakkie, was treated with advanced life support equipment,” said Botha.

An eyewitness who was travelling north-bound said a white Toyota rear-ended the bakkie, which was travelling in the slow lane, and continued southwards.
