From beach to gorge outings for backpackers

MOUNTAIN Backpackers Club hosts several outings in the coming weeks.
On 7 February, members will traverse from Umdloti to Umhlanga on a beach walk, with lunch at Bush Tavern.
Members are to to pre-book with Heidi to reserve tables. Meet at 8am to start at 8.15am from Umdloti Beach carpark. Confirm your attendance by 5 February. Rain will stop play.
The distance of this walk is about 12.5km on sand.

On Saturday, 20 February, there is a Kloof Gorge hike. Members are to meet at the Ezemvelo car park, Kloof Falls Road at 8.30am. The direction of the hike route will be decided at that time and will depend on the weather conditions, size of group and so on.
The potential routes are graded in severity from one to three, with fitness required, and the duration varies from three to five hours, again depending on the route selected. If it rains call leader John McGovern on 082-659-5111.
