Fed up with recycling pains

I have called seven times this week and the recorded message and music is all I got.

EDITOR – I am fed up.

Almost sixteen months in Durban supporting recycling and thrilled about the recycling programme here.

But why the struggle to get the required bags to support this programme? The last time I needed bags, about eight months ago, it took three telephone calls and I was initially told there was a ‘supply problem’ but I eventually got more bags.

Again, I call for more bags three weeks ago (I made two calls to get someone to pick up) to be told “we have a supply problem. But call us back in two to three weeks if you don’t get any.” Well I have called seven times this week and the recorded message and music is all I got. When twice I tried to leave a message, recorded voice tells me ‘mail box is full’.

I was a huge supporter of recycling while living in Cape Town but you have to research and find your own recycling depot or charity and then travel to deposit it. Then I moved to George which, like Durban, provides bags and collects recycle material from your home once a week and it worked efficiently.

What is the use of having a recycling programme in Durban when it is managed so inefficiently? I am sick of listening to a recorded voice and music and if you are having a problem with the suppliers of the bags, change them.

Get someone new on board who is passionate about recycling too. I am disappointed to say the least.
