Rescue craft boost for beaches

We like to keep our equipment new and update whenever we can.

Visitors to Toti beaches will be kept extra safe this festive with the arrival of two new inflatable rescue boats (IRBs).

“One is based at Toti main beach and one at Umgababa,” said acting beach superintendent, Jayce Govender.

“We also have a new rescue jetski on the way, which will be here in time for the start of the festive season.” The 3.9m IRBs are powered by 40-horsepower motors. “We like to keep our equipment new and update whenever we can,” said Jayce. “Our crew’s lives depend on it, as well as the patient. We try and change it whenever needed.”

With the new additions, the total rescue craft on the Sapphire Coast includes six IRBs, two jetskis, four quads, rescue boards, as well as four 4×4 vehicles.

“Rescue personnel also received 10 new digital blood pressure machines. “We are updating our first aid equipment, which should be here in time for the festive season.”
