Isipingo library on friendship quest

Members get together to give their time and support to enhance the valuable function of the library.

ISIPINGO Beach library is in the process of forming a Friends of the Library Club and calls on the community to sign up.

While Isipingo Beach may have morphed into a busy town with shops and traffic, in the centre of it all the library stands steadfast.

After decades, the library stock and books look better and brighter. It’s a welcome haven for those enjoying the quiet pleasure that only ‘real’ books can bring – whether they’re pensioners choosing a thriller or students from the outlying areas accessing reference books or the internet.

“It’s a non-profit project where members get together to give their time and support to enhance the valuable function of our library,” said librarian Sivi Govender.

The projects will vary according to members commitment and expertise, and may include fundraising, book mending, book sales, sorting books, story reading and organising speakers.
