Woman drowns in family pool

Her daughter found her.

TOTI detectives have opened an inquest docket after a woman in her 60s drowned in a swimming pool at her St Winifreds home on Tuesday, 24 November.

The woman was living with her daughter and son-in-law and was alone at the time of the incident.

“During the afternoon, the daughter came home to find her mother afloat in the swimming pool,” said Toti SAPS communications officer, Capt Charlene van der Spuy. She was declared dead by a paramedic who attended the scene.

“The woman had no visible injuries. No foul play is suspected at this stage. There was no sign of a disturbance or forced entry into the premises. A post-mortem will determine the cause of death.”
