Business burglar gets more than he bargained for

An alert employee from a neighbouring company informed the factory owners about the crime.

A suspected thief was nabbed in Rana Road by employees from a local company and armed response officers on Friday, 6 November.

“The man allegedly stole an angle grinder and drill from a bakkie as employees were loading the vehicle to go out to site,” said Alpha Alarms communications officer, Krishnee Naidoo.

“He is alleged to have hidden the stolen items in a jacket and walked away.”

An alert employee from a neighbouring company informed the factory owners about the crime. They contacted Alpha Alarms, who responded immediately.

“A staff member on site pointed out the direction in which the suspect ran,” said Krishnee. “The employees, together with armed response officers, pursued the suspect on Rana Road.

He was discovered hiding inside a container at the container depot.”

He was escorted back to the company’s premises, where the stolen items were identified. The man was handed over to members of the SAPS.
