Welcome rain interrupts ABC games

The lucky draw winners were Pam Chalder-Royle, Nicky Stirzaker, Amanda Ninow, Bernie Bretherton, Dave Gardner, Keith Berry, Bill Williams and Greg Veldtman.

THE women’s monthly trips at Toti Bowling Club was interrupted by rain, but luckily the first session was completed before play was called off.

The winners were Pam Chalder-Royle, Noreen Butler and Maggie Robertson; the runners-up were Barbara Beamson, Denise Bingham and Amanda Ninow; and in third place were Lulu Bingham, Elmarie Young and Lynette van Vuuren. Robyn Hutton won the 100 board, and Barbara Beamson won the spider, the profits of which raised R130 for Hospice.

Peter Labuschagne and Gustav Somers won the men’s 2-4-2, with Alf Bingham and Dennis Hughes being runners-up. Second session went to Owen Turner and Duncan Wright. Well done to Mac and Joyce Mackrory from Winkle who won the Kwikspar interclub nominated mixed 2-4-2; with Peter Shepard and Amanda Ninow in second place. The first session was won by Colin Coetzee and Leigh Callaghan; and the second session went to Jeff and Margaret van Belkum. Neville Roscoe won the draw. Thanks as always go to Allan and Denise Hawkins for their generous sponsorship.

At TGIF Robbie Roberts won the 100 board. Ron Greenslade was not present for the attendance draw, so the next draw is worth R150. Guelfo Cobianchi drew the key in the key draw; however his key did not turn in the lock. Note the next TGIF date is Friday, 4 December because of the show. Key amount will be announced in next week’s Sun.

Jenny Delport, Amanda Ninow and Maureen Griffin had a slow start to their women’s drawn trips game on Saturday morning. However after peeling on the 14th end, they pulled away to beat Pam Chalder-Royle, Joan van Rensburg and Elmarie Young.

Afternoon competitions were unfortunately rain interrupted. However two of these were completed on Sunday afternoon. Nita Meumann, Tokkie de Kock and Maggie Robertson beat Jane Coetzee, Jackie Holdrick and Karen Shepherd; and Julie Sutherland, Leonie Mills and Betty Sawyer were defeated by Doreen Salmond, Denise Bingham Gaynor Snyman. Other rain interrupted games will be completed next weekend.

In the women’s mutton, winners were Jeanette Clarence, Meryl Hambley, Yvonne Wright and Debbie Groom; and the runners-up were Noreen Butler, Michelle Pitchers, Gladys Hughes and Marilyn Thiart. Heather Brown, Lynn Joubert, Tokkie de Kock and Lys McDonald claimed the first session, while the second session went to Marion Crouch, Doreen Salmond, Adrienne Robbins and Leigh Callaghan.

In the men’s mutton, the winners were Greg McLeod, Clive Frank, Guelfo Cobianchi and Brian Crause. In second place were Clive Hambley, Duncan Wright, Doug Walton and Trevor Zulch. The first session went to Peter Labuschagne, Dallas Davis, Robbie Roberts and Vish Studinski; and the second session to Alec Stirzaker, Mike Groom, Rob Troughton and Mike Pitchers.
