Early lead gives Cardinals victory over Rebels 21-4

Coetzee got the win for the Cardinals with a superb pitching performance.

CARDINALS Baseball Club’s Promo side (U15) jumped out to an early lead on Rebels and captured a 21-4 victory on Sunday at Hoy Park.

Fourteen runs in the first three innings allowed the Cardinals to put the game away early.

Runs were aplenty, with a groundout by Johnny Venter, an RBI single by Vaughn Nel, a walk by Fritz Ackermann, and a wild pitch during the first inning and an RBI single by Brian Seach and an RBI single by Nel in the second inning supplying the early offense for the Cardinals.

Dale Coetzee put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits. He singled in the first inning and doubled in the third and fourth innings. Rebels’ offence was led by Dylan Ebrahim’s hitting. Ebrahim went 2-2 and scored one run. He singled in the second and third innings.

Coetzee got the win for the Cardinals with a superb pitching performance. He allowed four runs over four innings. He struck out one, walked three and only surrendered six hits.

Man of the match went to Brian Seach for his all-round performance, while mare went to Craig Dempsey for not performing as coach and having his breakfast delivered to the dugout.
