Dux pupil sets heart on music ministry after matric

She has been singing from a young age in choirs and church productions.

AMANZIMTOTI High School grade 12 pupil, Lindelwa Mabaso not only scooped the Dux award, but seven distinctions and subject prizes at the recent prizegiving.

She received academic honours in maths, isiZulu, English, physical science, life science, geography and life orientation.

The softly-spoken teenager aims to reap similar rewards in her final exams, which end on Wednesday, 25 November.

Next year, Lindelwa plans to attend a Bible college in Umhlanga. “I want to focus on developing my relationship with God,” she said.

A keen singer, her heart is set on music ministry. “I have been singing from a young age, in school choirs and church productions. I want to learn to play musical instruments, especially the piano and become involved with worship among the youth,” she said.

Lindelwa claimed consistency has resulted in her achieving academic results. “I prioritise what’s important. Being Christian, I value time with God, put him first and trust him to help me with my studies. At the beginning of the year, I felt a lot of pressure, but I am now at peace with my studies.”

She hopes to get A symbols, but said physical science is quite challenging.

In her spare time Lindelwa who lives in Doonheights, enjoys hanging out with close friends and family.
