Dealers, drugs netted in Illovo Beach

Two suspected drug dealers were arrested in Illovo Park on Saturday, 13 July.

A Nigerian man and a South African woman were arrested at their Panorama Park flat by the Hawks narcotic section after the man was found in possession of R50,000 in cash and drugs.

Police combed another flat at PGA Park in the Umhlanga area, which is rented by the Nigerian. The flat was searched and R150,000 in cash and 500 ecstasy tablets were seized.

“A powder similar to one found at Panorama was also seized and all recovered drugs will be sent to our laboratory for analysis,” said Captain Thulani Zwane of the KZN police media centre.

“Two vehicles were also seized for further investigation.

The arrested suspects, aged 37 and 31, appeared in Durban Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 15 July and were charged with dealing in drugs.”

Police believe the alleged drug dealer was supplying drugs to Chatsworth and surrounds.

After police received information on Saturday, 6 July, they recovered 10kg of suspected heroin, valued at more than R2.5-million, and between 1,600 and 1,800 ecstasy tablets to the value of some R1.5-million at the Panorama Park flat.

However, no arrests were made on the day, since there was no-one in the flat.
